I have Havahart model #1025. I baited and set the trap for squirrels. When I checked, the trap door was closed, the bait was gone, but there were no squirrels in the trap. This happened three times. Any suggestions?

Thank you for this....I recently had a stray cat "adopt" me and my family and where we don't mind him hanging around or even taking care of him I do not want him to continue to use my garden as his litter box.

Our Havahart trap is at least 15 years old. We have a racoon that has been coming into our garage and my neighbor's attic, so it was worth a try to trap it. Unfortunately this morning we found a large skunk in the trap! Following this website's advice we covered the trap and safely released the skunk without getting sprayed. Thanks! Now how do we catch the pesky little burglar?

I've got squrrels driving me nuts, but don't want to scare away the deer that wander in from time to time at night to clean around the feeder. Does Critter Ridder chase them away, too?

Thank you for posting non-lethal ways to keep cats off your property. Of course owners of said cats should keep them inside or on their property only. Spaying/neutering these cats can also keep them from roaming so far from home. I am a cat owner (they are indoors only) and I also do feral cat trap/neuter/turn. I do know it is a fine balance between letting the cats live, and letting neighbors live in peace with gardens/yards intact. Thanks for the blog!

I've never heard of "Critter Ridder" before. I'm going to try it because we used to have a lot of songbirds- but since a few wild cats have been coming around, the birds have left.

Speaking of skunks - my husband almost decided to adopt one. The local animal control had put a cage in our backyard with cat food in it to attract some ferrel cats that were wandering the neighborhood. The next day we looked out and saw a skunk in the cage. The little guy even made a bed by pulling pine straw into the cage. Uh oh - how are you going to get the skunk out of that cage without it squirting you?! Well, the animal control officer came out and he wouldn't go near it. Later, my husband carefully made friends with the skunk and it never sprayed him! He took about 12 pics of the cute little guy (a young one), and almost decided to have it fixed so it wouldn't spray. My husband actually wanted to keep it as his pet! We ended up deciding to set it free. He really was cute, even if he was a stinker...

Ha! Ronda that was a good one...

Havahart traps and repellents work great for wild control but not on teenagers. :)
