Spring is finally in full tilt and all my gardens are growing nicely! The peas are shooting out of the ground, the green beans are sending up their fat, little shoots and my tulips are bursting forth in all the colors of the rainbow. And, of course, the deer are coming by each night to visit my garden. And I don't think they are here to admire the view – they are looking for a little moonlight buffet. I'm seriously about ready to sit out all night because I'm not about to give up my veggies so early in the year. But now i don't have to pull a night-watch because I've found the perfect, organic deer repellent! – Deer Off

My animal problem was caused by my own cats rather than the neighbor's pets or strays. The walkway to my front door has a long, narrow planting bed that lies between the walk and the garage wall of my L-shaped home. The southern exposure of this 3×12 foot planting bed makes it perfect for a colorful display of annuals through the season. Unfortunately, now that its warm outside and my cats are exploring the outdoors, it has become their favored outdoor litter box!

When I look at this photo of tulips leaning towards the light, I think “Oh Happy Day!” When a little furry rabbit looks at this picture he says “Ummm..Lunch!” Yes, tulips are the tiramisu of the rabbit restaurant.
